ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND COMPUTATIONAL THINKING (AICT) PROGRAM

Children are the innovators of the future. The constructs that underpin this competency include adaptability, creativity, curiosity and open-mindedness - Computational Thinking helps nourish these qualities. Another important aspect of being ‘future ready’ is knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) - a code that learns - which is likely to be humankind’s most important invention. A basic academic grounding in these subjects has become a prerequisite in today’s world.

Pravaha and Mytrah Foundation collaborated with International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH), and Creya Learning to deliver a 3 month AICT course to 68 students of 8th grade at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ranga Reddy district, in Telangana.

The AICT Program consists of a comprehensive 30 session curriculum that establishes the need of AI and its applications in a technological driven world. CT, which is one of the thinking styles adopted by AI is looked at in depth in the curriculum. The program has been designed for high school students, and ensures that the content provides detailed context for the students in this age-group. Complex concepts of AI & CT are simplified and made relevant for the students for better understanding. Experiential learning activities are designed to provide an experience on the different aspects of AI and CT.

The AICT program is created to be evidence based and outcomes driven, so as to provide tangible evidence that instruction in the knowledge and skills imparted is valid and legitimate. Both formative and summative evaluation activities take place throughout the program lifecycle. The key facets of the AICT Program – scaled expansion, blended learning, holistic development, and strong governance, ensure that it easily repeatable and sustainable in schools across the country.
