Makers’ Hackathon

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Makers’ Hackathon 2023, a joint initiative by Pravaha and IIIT Hyderabad, was an event that blended technology and innovation to address global sustainability challenges.

This hackathon, spanning from November 2022 to January 2023, invited students to create tech solutions focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in urban development and climate action.

The program offered a platform for young innovators to explore and develop IoT, Robotics, and App Dev solutions, encouraging creative problem-solving and application of technology in real-world scenarios.

Problem Statements

Disaster Management (Senior Category)

Focused on creating automated solutions for managing various disasters like forest fires, water-borne disasters, and litho-disasters, using technology such as sensors, robots, and drones for detection and mitigation.

Water Management (Junior Category)

Concentrated on developing automated systems for water management, addressing issues like building water management and stormwater management, utilizing sensors and data-driven technologies for monitoring and controlling water usage.

Program Activities

Multi-phase Competition

  • Registration and Selection:
    A comprehensive process where participants applied and were selected based on their proposals and technical skills.
  • Online Interviews and Finals:
    Interviews to assess the teams’ understanding, followed by a final event where solutions were presented and evaluated.

Boot Camps on IoT, Robotics, and App Development

  • Skill Development:
    Intensive training sessions providing foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in IoT, robotics, and app development.
  • Application of Learning:
    Focused on applying these skills to develop solutions for the hackathon challenges.

Problem Statements on SDG 11 and 13

  • Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11):
    Encouraging participants to create innovative solutions for urban sustainability.
  • Climate Action (SDG 13):
    Focused on developing technology-driven solutions to combat climate change.

Interactive Mentorship and Expert Guidance
